Chemical Delivery Hose

Chemical delivery hose is used to transfer corrosive media such as acids, alkalis and organic solvents. Its selection logic is completely different from a hydraulic hose: a hydraulic system cares about pressure and pulse, while chemical transfer cares about media compatibility and permeation. Pick the wrong material and you can see swelling, cracking or leakage in a short time.

The Core Is Media Compatibility

The inner tube is the heart of this product: ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene combined with EPDM. UHMWPE has excellent chemical stability, tolerating strong acids, strong alkalis and many organic solvents while staying reasonably abrasion-resistant; paired with EPDM it balances chemical resistance with elasticity. The inner-layer structure directly decides permeation risk — the core of chemical-transfer selection.

Chemical media attack the hose by two paths: chemical corrosion (the material is decomposed or swollen) and permeation (molecules migrate through the inner layer outward). Permeation is more hidden — it is often only discovered when the outer cover bulges or leaks.

How to Select

• Check media compatibility first. This is rule one for chemical transfer. Confirm the inner material tolerates the target media including concentration and temperature. A vague "rubber hose" description cannot make a safe call; verify item by item.
• Watch permeation, not just corrosion. Many media show no corrosion short-term yet slowly permeate the inner layer. Permeation accelerates with temperature and concentration, so high-temperature or high-concentration transfer demands a stricter inner barrier.

Can it carry strong acid and alkali?
Confirm case by case. It tolerates many, but performance differs by media, concentration and temperature — oxidation level, chlorine content or solvent character can all affect fit. Confirm against the specific condition before selection.

What causes cover bulging?
Usually media permeation. Molecules slowly cross the inner layer and collect between the outer and reinforcement layers, forming a bulge — a classic failure mode that often shows only after internal permeation has already happened, so regular appearance checks matter.

What is typical service life?
It depends on media, temperature, concentration and frequency — no single number answers it. The more aggressive the media and the higher the temperature and frequency, the shorter the life. State the condition at selection so the advisor can set a realistic expectation.
