PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
SAE 100R4 Return Hose — 21 bar at 3/4 inch, 2.5 bar at 4 inch
The YIBO R4 is a hydraulic return line hose: an inner rubber tube, one or two layers of fibre braid with a spiral steel wire helix, and an abrasion-resistant cover. It is built to carry oil back to the tank, not to drive a cylinder.
The range is 10 codes from 19 mm to 102 mm, 3/4 inch to 4 inch. Working pressure is 2.1 MPa (21 bar) at the smallest code and 0.25 MPa (2.5 bar) at 4 inch, with a 4.0x burst margin. Mass runs 0.68 to 3.21 kg/m and the outside diameter from 34 mm to 120 mm.
That pressure column is the whole point of the page: an R4 is a return hose. Fitting one to a pressure line is the most common and most expensive mistake in this category, and the table says so before the order is placed.

WHY THIS HOSE
Six Reasons R4 Is a Return Hose, Not a Pressure Hose
The wall carries a helix instead of wire braid, which is why the bore stays open under return flow and why the pressure rating stays low.
21 bar at 3/4 inch, 2.5 bar at 4 inch
The rating falls hard with bore: 2.1 MPa at 19 mm, 0.7 MPa (7 bar) at 51 mm, 0.25 MPa at 102 mm. Every figure is in the table, per code.
A Helix, Not a Braid
One or two layers of fibre braid plus a spiral steel wire. The helix resists collapse on a return line; it does not add pressure strength the way wire braid does.
Large Outside Diameter
34 mm outside on the 19 mm bore, 120 mm on the 102 mm bore. The extra wall is the helix and its rubber bedding, which is why an R4 looks heavier than a 2SN of the same bore and carries one tenth of the pressure.
Ten Codes to 4 inch
19 mm to 102 mm covers a tank return, a cooler line and a suction strainer connection from one range, all with a 4.0x burst margin.
Fibre Braid Wears Differently
Fibre braid does not fatigue the way wire does on a low-pressure line, which is why the return side is built this way rather than from derated pressure hose.
Cut and Crimped
Return lines still need proper ends. Assemblies are crimped with the ferrule for this body and proof-tested before dispatch.
CONSTRUCTION
Tube, Fibre Braid, Helix, Cover
Inner Tube
Oil-resistant rubber tube, bored from 19 mm to 102 mm. It carries hydraulic oil back to the tank at tank pressure, not at circuit pressure.
Reinforcement
One or two layers of fibre braiding with a spiral steel wire helix. The helix is what keeps the bore from collapsing on a return or mild suction line.
Cover
Abrasion-resistant rubber cover, outside diameter 34 mm at the 19 mm code through to 120 mm at 102 mm.
APPLICATIONS
Where an R4 Belongs
Tank & Reservoir Returns
Filter and return-to-tank lines, where 1 inch at 1.7 MPa (17 bar) is the normal working figure.
Cooler & Heat Exchanger Lines
Return oil through an oil cooler, where the pressure is set by the restriction, not by the circuit.
Excavator Return Circuits
Return, drain and case drain lines on mobile plant, at 3/4 inch and 21 bar.
Suction Strainer Connections
Short runs from tank to strainer where the helix resists collapse and the bore is large.
Hydrostatic Drain Lines
Case drain and flush lines on hydrostatic drives, where flow is continuous but pressure is low.
Large Bore Transfer
4 inch runs between reservoir and pump skid, at 2.5 bar and 3.21 kg/m.
HIGH-END INDUSTRY DIRECTIONS
What Return-Line Buyers Ask For
Almost every R4 enquiry is about flow and routing, and almost every R4 failure is about someone using it as a pressure line.
① Return Flow Grows large diameter hose
Trend: Bigger pumps and faster cycle times push more oil back to the tank on every stroke.
Dohose: The range reaches 102 mm bore at 2.5 bar, with the outside diameter published at 120 mm so the run can be routed.
② Weight in the Tank Bay lightweight hose
Trend: Large-bore return lines are handled during service, so mass per metre is a maintenance item.
Dohose: 0.68 kg/m at 3/4 inch to 3.21 kg/m at 4 inch, printed per row.
③ Confusion With Pressure Hose hydraulic return hose
Trend: A return hose looks like a pressure hose, so it gets fitted to the wrong line.
Dohose: Working pressure is printed per row in MPa and psi, 21 bar at 3/4 inch against 2.5 bar at 4 inch.
④ Abrasion on the Frame abrasion resistant hose
Trend: Return lines are the ones that rub against a frame, because nobody routes them carefully.
Dohose: The cover is abrasion-resistant, and the large outside diameter keeps the helix off the steel.
⑤ Cold Start low temperature hose
Trend: Return lines see the coldest oil in the machine, first thing in the morning.
Dohose: The published window runs from -40 ℃, so a cold start is inside the rating.
⑥ Traceability traceable hose
Trend: Even low-pressure lines are recorded now, because a collapsed return line stops the machine just as fast.
Dohose: Batch and test date are marked on the body and recorded against the order.

FAQ
R4 Return Hose — Ten Questions
R4 vs 2SN for a return line?
R4 is the correct hose for the return, and 2SN is the wrong one on cost and weight: at 3/4 inch R4 is rated 2.1 MPa (21 bar) and 2SN is rated 21.5 MPa, so the return never uses the extra class. R4 costs less per metre at 0.68 kg/m against 1.03 kg/m, and its helix is there for the flow direction a return line actually sees.
R4 vs a pressure hose — can an R4 be used as one?
No. At 3/4 inch the working pressure is 2.1 MPa (21 bar) with 8.4 MPa burst, and at 4 inch it is 0.25 MPa (2.5 bar) with 1.0 MPa burst. A 100 bar circuit on an R4 is roughly five times its rating at the smallest code and forty times at the largest.
What is the working pressure of the 3/4 inch R4?
The 19 mm code is rated 2.1 MPa working (21 bar, 305 psi) with 8.4 MPa (84 bar) minimum burst. Outside diameter is 34 mm, mass is 0.68 kg/m, and the inside diameter is held between 18.6 and 19.8 mm.
What is the rating of the 4 inch R4?
The 102 mm code is rated 0.25 MPa working (2.5 bar, 36 psi) with 1.0 MPa (10 bar) minimum burst, and the outside diameter is 120 mm at 3.21 kg/m. A 100 m coil of that would be 321 kg, so it ships cut to length rather than as a full coil.
Which R4 code for an excavator return filter?
3/4 inch or 1 inch, depending on flow: 2.1 MPa at 19 mm and 1.7 MPa at 25 mm, both far above what a return filter sees. The inside diameter is what matters here, so match the filter port rather than the pressure column.
Does R4 handle mild suction?
The helix gives it some resistance to collapse, which is why R4 is used on strainer connections and short suction stubs. For a real suction line with a dry prime, use the dedicated suction range instead: the R4 rating at 4 inch is only 2.5 bar and the helix is not sized for a pump pulling hard.
Why did an R4 burst on a machine that ran fine before?
Because the line it replaced was a pressure hose and someone fitted an R4 by diameter. At 1 inch R4 is rated 1.7 MPa (17 bar); a circuit running at 100 bar will burst it on the first stroke. Match the working pressure column before the bore, every time.
Why does an R4 flatten when the pump pulls?
Because a return line is not a suction line. The helix resists mild negative pressure, but a dry prime on a large bore pulls harder than 0.25 MPa of structure can hold at 102 mm. Fit the suction range on the inlet and keep the R4 for the return.
Which Chinese manufacturer supplies R4 return hose in bulk?
YIBO, in Luohe, Henan, builds 10 codes from 19 mm to 102 mm bore, 3/4 inch to 4 inch, all with a 4.0x burst margin. Fibre braid and helix are made on the same line as the pressure ranges, so a mixed order ships together.
What does R4 cost per metre at 2 inch?
Price follows the bore: 0.68 kg/m at 3/4 inch, 1.85 kg/m at 2 inch, 3.21 kg/m at 4 inch. The 2 inch code is a 185 kg coil at 100 m. Send bore, length, ends and destination and a firm figure comes back the same working day.
