PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
Steam Cleaning and Hot Water Hose — 4:1 Where You Least Expect It
A steam cleaner is a low-pressure machine. Most of them run a few bar at the lance, so the hose rating looks like the least interesting number on the page. It is not, because a steam line is the one place where the pressure is the easy part and the temperature is the problem.
Our range covers 6 to 13 mm inside diameter, every code rated 10 bar working against 40 bar minimum burst. That is a 4:1 margin on a low-pressure service, which is unusual and is published as it stands rather than rounded down to a 3:1 claim.
Coils are 100 m and the arc runs 60 mm to 130 mm. A cleaning hose is dragged, coiled wet and left to drain, so both figures matter: the tight arc at 1/4 inch turns inside a machine housing, and the long coil reaches across a bay. The table also carries the length in feet, 328 ft, for buyers who order from an imperial catalogue.

Application & Selection
Steam and hot water are the most underestimated hose services. Hose for Steam Cleaning and Hot Water covers 6–13 mm across 4 published codes.
Across the 4 codes of Hose for Steam Cleaning and Hot Water the top figure is 10 bar working against 40 bar minimum burst — 4:1. From 0.17 to 0.34 kg/m over the 4 rows. We crimp and test every build in-house — 4 codes, 6–13 mm. Hose for Steam Cleaning and Hot Water runs roughly 20 days from confirmation over its 4 codes, with OEM marking and packing.
WHY THIS HOSE
Four Numbers That Matter Here
On a hot water line the pressure is set by the pump and the life is set by everything else.
4:1, Not 3:1
10 bar working against 40 bar burst. Low-pressure equipment usually gets a thinner margin, so a 4:1 ratio at this rating is worth stating.
60 mm at 1/4 Inch
The smallest code turns in a 60 mm arc on a 14 mm outside diameter, which is what fits inside a machine housing or a trolley reel.
100 m on Every Code
A cleaning run crosses a bay and comes back. One coil covers it without a coupling in the wet part of the run.
170 g per Metre
0.17 kg/m at the smallest code to 0.34 kg/m at 1/2 inch. A full 100 m coil is 17 to 34 kg, so it stays a hand-portable reel.
Hot Water Inside and Out
The tube carries the hot water and the cover takes splash and steam on the outside, so the two layers face different conditions.
Pressure Is Flat
All four bores are 10 bar and 40 bar. Bore changes flow and arc only, so the choice is made on the nozzle and the reel.
CONSTRUCTION
Tube for Hot Water, Cover for Steam
Inner Tube
A compound selected for hot water and steam service, bored 6 mm to 13 mm. Small bore keeps the body light enough to drag behind a lance.
Reinforcement
Textile and wire reinforcement rated for 10 bar working with 40 bar burst, which is the 4:1 margin quoted per row on this range.
Cover
A cover that takes steam splash and repeated wet coiling, outside diameter 14 mm to 22 mm across the four codes.
APPLICATIONS
Where It Is Used
Steam Cleaning Lances
10 mm at 10 bar on a 100 mm arc, feeding a lance through a machine guard.
Hot Water Washdown
13 mm at 0.34 kg/m on a 130 mm arc, the largest bore on the range and the one used on open floors.
CIP and Sanitising Loops
8 and 10 mm lines on a 80 to 100 mm arc, where the coil length covers a circuit without a joint.
Food Plant Washdown
Hot water at 10 bar where the hose is coiled wet between shifts.
Workshop and Garage
6 mm at 60 mm arc, small enough to live on a wall reel beside the machine.
Vessel and Plant Maintenance
Temporary steam and hot water runs that are made up and taken down repeatedly.
HIGH-END INDUSTRY DIRECTIONS
What Cleaning Equipment Buyers Ask
Enquiries are about the reel, the coil length and how the hose behaves when it is wet and hot at the same time.
① Reel Compatibility hose reel
Trend: Cleaning hose lives on a reel, so the arc has to suit the drum.
Dohose: 60 mm at 1/4 inch through 130 mm at 1/2 inch.
② Margin on Low Pressure safety margin
Trend: Buyers ask for the burst figure even on a 10 bar machine.
Dohose: 40 bar burst, a 4:1 margin, published per row.
③ Long Runs long length hose
Trend: Cleaning reaches across a bay rather than moving the machine.
Dohose: 100 m on all four codes.
④ Wet Coiling durable hose
Trend: Hose is reeled wet and left, so the cover has to cope.
Dohose: Cover compound and outside diameter stated per code, 14 to 22 mm.
⑤ Weight on the Arm lightweight hose
Trend: The lance end is held all shift.
Dohose: 0.17 kg/m at 1/4 inch against 0.34 kg/m at 1/2 inch.
⑥ Traceability traceable hose
Trend: Food plant lines are audited against the batch.
Dohose: Batch and test date are marked on each length.

FAQ
Steam Cleaning Hose — Ten Questions
What is the working and burst pressure?
Every code is 10 bar working with 40 bar minimum burst, which is a 4:1 margin, published in bar and psi per row as 145 psi working and 580 psi burst. A 4:1 ratio on a 10 bar service is higher than the 3:1 usually found on transfer hose.
What is the difference between this and a general water hose?
The margin and the temperature duty. This range gives 40 bar burst on a 10 bar rating, a 4:1 ratio, and the tube is selected for hot water and steam rather than for cold washdown. A general water hose is usually rated lower with a thinner margin.
Can a 1/2 inch hose replace a 3/8 one on the same reel?
Only if the reel has the room. The 13 mm code needs a 130 mm arc on a 22 mm outside diameter, against 100 mm and 18 mm for the 3/8 code, so a reel sized for the smaller hose will usually not take the larger one without a drum change.
What inside diameters are available?
Four codes: 6, 8, 10 and 13 mm, which is 1/4, 5/16, 3/8 and 1/2 inch. Outside diameter runs 14, 16, 18 and 22 mm in the same order, with bend radii of 60, 80, 100 and 130 mm.
Why does a 10 bar hose need a 4:1 margin?
Because a steam line is not a steady service: the lance is shut, the trigger is released, and the line sees a step change rather than a slow ramp. The table publishes 40 bar burst against 10 bar working, and the page quotes that ratio rather than assuming a thinner margin is acceptable.
Why is the coil length fixed at 100 m?
Because a cleaning run leaves the machine, crosses the floor and comes back, so a short coil means a coupling in the wet part of the route. Every code is supplied in a 100 m coil at 0.17 to 0.34 kg/m, which is 17 to 34 kg and still hand-portable.
Which code for a lance on a portable steam cleaner?
The 10 mm code at 10 bar on a 100 mm arc and 0.24 kg/m. It matches the usual lance connection and keeps the outside diameter at 18 mm, which is small enough to pass a machine guard without chafing.
Which code for washdown across an open floor?
The 13 mm code at 10 bar and 0.34 kg/m on a 130 mm arc. The larger bore gives the flow a floor hose needs, and the 100 m coil reaches across a bay without a joint at the far end.
What is the minimum order and lead time?
100 metres per size, cut to length, and the standard coil is already a full 100 metres, which is 328 ft in the length column. Production runs about 20 days from confirmation, and OEM marking and packing are available for equipment builders and distributors.
What does it cost per metre?
Price follows the bore: 0.17 kg/m at 1/4 inch, 0.20 at 5/16, 0.24 at 3/8 and 0.34 kg/m at 1/2 inch. Send the machine, the lance connection, the length and the destination, and a firm figure comes back the same working day.
