PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
Hydraulic Hose for Bulldozers — Blade, Tilt, Ripper, Steering
A bulldozer works four circuits from one pump, and they fail for different reasons. The blade lift carries the machine weight, blade tilt takes the side loads, the ripper shatters rock on the way down, and steering runs at the lowest pressure of the four.
We supply them from the same four-spiral body, in four codes from 18.6 to 33.0 mm inside diameter. The 3/4 inch code is rated 42.0 MPa (420 bar) with 168.0 MPa burst; the 1-1/4 inch code drops to 32.5 MPa but gives a 460 mm arc.
That trade is the whole engineering decision on a dozer. The blade cylinder sits at the front of the machine with the pump right behind it, so the smallest bore carries the highest pressure, and the largest bore has to bend around a 460 mm radius in the track frame.

WHY THIS HOSE
Why Dozer Circuits Are Specified This Way
A dozer is a shock-load machine. Every circuit sees the load arrive in one hit, not gradually.
420 bar at 3/4 Inch
The blade cylinder is the highest-pressure circuit on the machine: 42.0 MPa with 168.0 MPa burst, on a 280 mm arc.
380 bar at 1 Inch
The tilt cylinder runs 38.0 MPa on a 340 mm arc and 2.12 kg/m, the middle of the range on both counts.
Two Rows at 1-1/4 Inch
The same 31.4 to 33.0 mm bore is listed at 32.5 MPa and 35.0 MPa, both at 2.77 kg/m and 460 mm. Same size, two classes.
Pressure Falls With Bore
42.0 MPa at 3/4 inch, 32.5 MPa at 1-1/4 inch. The wall does not grow as fast as the bore, so the rating falls.
Heavy at the Big End
1.64 kg/m at 3/4 inch against 2.77 kg/m at 1-1/4 inch. On a machine that turns constantly, that mass is in the routing.
Both Keep 4:1
168.0 MPa burst on 42.0 MPa, 130.0 MPa on 32.5 MPa. The shock margin is the same across the range.
CONSTRUCTION
Four Spirals for Shock Load
Inner Tube
Oil-resistant synthetic rubber, bored 18.6 mm to 33.0 mm. Dozer circuits run standard mineral oil and the tube is matched to that, not to a special fluid.
Reinforcement
Four spiral-wound steel wire layers, measuring 27.6 to 42.9 mm. Spiral construction is specified because the load arrives as a shock rather than a steady push.
Cover
Abrasion-resistant rubber, taking outside diameter to 31.4 to 47.1 mm. On a dozer the cover is worn by the track frame and by the material being pushed.
APPLICATIONS
Circuit by Circuit on a Dozer
Blade Lift
The main lift pair, 420 bar at 3/4 inch on a 280 mm arc, routed beside the radiator guard.
Blade Tilt
Side-loaded tilt cylinder at 380 bar on the 1 inch code, with a 340 mm arc through the push frame.
Ripper Lift
Ripper shank lift at 325 to 350 bar on the 1-1/4 inch code, where the 460 mm arc clears the track frame.
Ripper Tilt
Short stroke at the same class, where 2.77 kg/m has to be supported along the ripper beam.
Steering Clutch and Brake
Lower-pressure control circuits fed from the same body, usually the 3/4 inch code for its tight arc.
Attachment Quick Coupler
A 325 bar circuit that reverses direction, so the spiral body is used rather than a two-braid.
HIGH-END INDUSTRY DIRECTIONS
What Dozer Owners Ask For Now
The enquiries have shifted from pressure to service life, because a failed blade line stops the whole machine.
① Uptime Over Price hydraulic hose
Trend: Contractors count the hours a dozer is down, not the hose cost.
Dohose: 168.0 MPa burst on the 3/4 inch code, printed per row.
② Shock Loading high impulse hose
Trend: Rock ripping is now described as a shock duty in specifications.
Dohose: Four spiral layers, 42.0 MPa at 3/4 inch.
③ Track Frame Clearance hose routing
Trend: Routing space shrinks as undercarriages get wider.
Dohose: 280 mm at the 3/4 code through to 460 mm at 1-1/4.
④ Cover Wear abrasion resistant hose
Trend: Cover abrasion against the track frame is a scheduled check.
Dohose: Outside diameter 31.4 to 47.1 mm, stated so sleeving can be sized.
⑤ Cold Climate Work low temperature hose
Trend: Winter earthworks harden the cover and stiffen the body.
Dohose: Assemblies tested before dispatch, crimped to a recorded diameter.
⑥ OEM and Aftermarket crimped hose
Trend: Fleets want the same assembly from the dealer and from a supplier.
Dohose: Metric, BSP, JIC and ORFS ends, matched to the bore.

FAQ
Bulldozer Hydraulic Hose — Ten Questions
What pressure does the blade circuit run on a dozer?
The blade cylinder is normally the 3/4 inch code, rated 42.0 MPa (420 bar) with 168.0 MPa minimum burst on an 18.6 to 19.8 mm inside diameter. Minimum bend radius is 280 mm and mass is 1.64 kg/m, the lightest and highest-rated code on this table.
What is the difference between the two 1-1/4 inch rows?
They are two separate rows at the same 31.4 to 33.0 mm bore, both 460 mm bend radius and 2.77 kg/m. The 35.0 MPa row carries 140.0 MPa burst against 130.0 MPa on the 32.5 row, so specify the higher one when the ripper duty sits above 325 bar.
Can a two-braid hose replace 4SH on the blade line?
Only if the circuit pressure allows it. The blade code is rated 42.0 MPa (420 bar) on an 18.6 to 19.8 mm bore, and a two-braid body of that size sits a pressure class lower with far less shock capacity. On a dozer the blade line is the one place not to trade the spiral construction away.
How tight can the blade line be routed?
The 3/4 inch code allows a 280 mm minimum arc, the tightest on the table. At 1 inch it is 340 mm and at 1-1/4 inch 460 mm, so upsizing the line to gain flow costs routing space in front of the radiator.
Why does the pressure drop as the bore grows?
Because the wall thickens more slowly than the bore, so hoop stress rises at the same rating. The table falls from 42.0 MPa at 3/4 inch to 32.5 MPa at 1-1/4 inch, with burst following from 168.0 MPa down to 130.0 MPa.
Why use spiral rather than braided hose on a dozer?
Because the load arrives as a shock, not a steady push. Rock ripping and blade stall both put a step change into the line, and the four spiral layers at 168.0 MPa burst on the 3/4 inch code are specified for that pattern rather than for the 420 bar rating alone.
Which hose for a ripper that works rock all day?
The 1-1/4 inch code, and choose the 35.0 MPa row if the circuit sits above 325 bar. Both rows give a 460 mm arc at 2.77 kg/m, so the routing is identical and only the pressure class differs.
Which hose for the steering and control circuits?
The 3/4 inch code at 420 bar with a 280 mm arc. Steering and brake circuits run well below that, but the small bore is chosen for the tight routing behind the dash rather than for the pressure.
What is the minimum order and lead time?
100 m per size, cut to length, across 18.6 mm to 33.0 mm inside diameter. Production runs about 20 days from confirmation, and assemblies ship crimped and pressure-tested with metric, BSP, JIC or ORFS ends.
What does a dozer hose assembly cost?
Price follows the bore: 1.64 kg/m at 3/4 inch, 2.12 kg/m at 1 inch and 2.77 kg/m at 1-1/4 inch. Samples are cut free so a route can be checked against the 280 to 460 mm arc, and a firm figure follows bore, length, ends and destination.
