PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
Food and Beverage Plant Hose — Nothing May Reach the Product
A food plant will accept almost any compromise on the equipment side. What it will not accept is a hose that changes the taste of what passes through it, or leaves a residue that a swab test finds on Monday morning.
Our range carries four bores from 19 to 38 mm, every one rated 10 bar working against 30 bar minimum burst, a 3:1 margin. Lengths run to 61 m per coil, so a transfer run can cross a production hall without a coupling in the middle of a washdown zone.
The bend radius is where the codes separate: 100 mm at 3/4 inch, then 150, 190 and 220 mm at 1-1/2 inch. On a plant floor the arc is usually what decides the bore, because the routing is fixed by the equipment long before the hose is chosen.

Application & Selection
Food and beverage plants have one non-negotiable requirement — the hose must not affect the product. Hose for Food and Beverage Plants covers 19–38 mm across 4 published codes.
Hose for Food and Beverage Plants carries a published 10 bar working, 30 bar minimum burst rating. Plan the supports around 0.67–1.5 kg/m per metre. Hose for Food and Beverage Plants assemblies ship crimped and pressure-tested, with metric / BSP / JIC / ORFS ends. Hose for Food and Beverage Plants runs roughly 20 days from confirmation over its 4 codes, with OEM marking and packing.
WHY THIS HOSE
Four Things a Food Plant Checks
Pressure is rarely the limiting factor on a transfer line. The limits are the product, the washdown and the routing.
Nothing Migrates Into Product
The tube is selected so it does not carry taste or odour into the medium. That is the first requirement and it is a compound question, not a pressure question.
3:1 on 10 bar
Every code is 10 bar working and 30 bar burst. A transfer line runs at pump discharge, so this ratio is the published one and it is quoted as it stands.
61 m Without a Joint
A coupling in a washdown zone is a harbour for bacteria. Long coils move the joints out to the ends where they can be cleaned.
Arc Grows With Bore
100 mm at 3/4 inch to 220 mm at 1-1/2 inch. The biggest bore needs more than twice the space of the smallest.
Washdown on the Outside
The cover takes detergent and hot water from outside while the tube handles product inside, so the two layers face different duties.
Mass for Handling
0.67 kg/m at 3/4 inch to 1.50 kg/m at 1-1/2 inch. A 61 m coil is 41 to 92 kg, which decides whether it is moved by hand or by trolley.
CONSTRUCTION
Tube for Product, Cover for Washdown
Inner Tube
A compound selected for food-contact transfer, bored 19 mm to 38 mm. It is chosen so it does not impart taste or odour, and the declaration you require is confirmed against your standard on the order.
Reinforcement
Textile and wire reinforcement sized for a 10 bar working pressure. On a transfer line the pump head is the design case, not a pressure spike.
Cover
An outer cover that takes detergent and hot water washdown, with outside diameter from 30 mm to 51 mm across the four codes.
APPLICATIONS
Where It Is Used in the Plant
Milk and Dairy Transfer
19 and 25 mm lines at 10 bar, where the 100 mm arc at 3/4 inch fits a pump skid.
Juice and Syrup
32 mm lines on a 190 mm arc, sized for flow at a rating that does not change with bore.
Brewing and Distilling
Transfer to and from fermenters, where the coil length matters more than the pressure class.
CIP Return
Caustic and hot water circuits on the same body, with the cover facing the washdown rather than the product.
Sauce and Paste
1-1/2 inch at 10 bar and 51 mm outside diameter, on a 220 mm arc around a filling head.
Bulk Tanker Unloading
Dock lines where the hose is dragged, so the cover is the wear item and the tube stays protected.
HIGH-END INDUSTRY DIRECTIONS
What Food Plants Ask Before They Order
The order of questions tells you what matters: product first, cleaning second, pressure a distant third.
① Product Contact First food hose
Trend: Buyers ask what the tube does to the product before they ask the rating.
Dohose: Tube compound is confirmed against the medium, with the 10 bar rating unchanged.
② Washdown Chemistry washdown hose
Trend: Caustic and hot water attack the cover, not the tube.
Dohose: Cover compound and outside diameter are published per code, 30 to 51 mm.
③ Fewer Joints in Wet Areas long length hose
Trend: Couplings in a washdown zone are treated as a hygiene risk.
Dohose: Coils run to 61 m on every code.
④ Fixed Routing hose routing
Trend: Equipment layout is set before the hose is bought.
Dohose: Arc published from 100 mm to 220 mm, bore by bore.
⑤ Audit Documentation traceable hose
Trend: Auditors ask for batch records against the line.
Dohose: Batch and test date are marked on each length.
⑥ Manual Handling Limits lightweight hose
Trend: Operators should not lift a full coil alone.
Dohose: 0.67 kg/m at 3/4 inch up to 1.50 kg/m at 1-1/2 inch.

FAQ
Food and Beverage Hose — Ten Questions
What pressure is this hose rated to?
Every code is 10 bar working with 30 bar minimum burst, a 3:1 margin, from the 19 mm bore to the 38 mm bore. Because the rating is flat across the range, the bore can be chosen for flow and the pressure class does not change.
What is the difference between the four bores?
Bore, outside diameter and bend radius, not pressure. The range runs 19, 25, 32 and 38 mm inside diameter with outside diameter 30, 36, 44 and 51 mm, and minimum bend radius 100, 150, 190 and 220 mm in the same order.
Can a larger bore replace a smaller one in the same route?
Only if the arc allows it. Replacing the 19 mm code with the 38 mm code takes the minimum bend radius from 100 mm to 220 mm and the outside diameter from 30 mm to 51 mm, so a route built for the smaller hose will not usually accept the larger one without rework.
What arc does the 1-1/2 inch code need?
The 38 mm code needs a 220 mm minimum bend radius on a 51 mm outside diameter, at 10 bar working and 1.50 kg/m. It is the widest and heaviest code on the range, and the one most likely to need a supported tray rather than a clamp.
Why is the burst margin 3:1 rather than 4:1?
Because this is a transfer line at pump discharge, not a hydraulic circuit. The table publishes 10 bar working against 30 bar burst, and the page quotes that ratio rather than implying headroom the product does not have.
Why do long coils matter more than pressure here?
Because a coupling inside a washdown zone is a cleaning problem, and each one adds a leak path. All four codes go to 61 metres in one coil, so a hall crossing can be made in a single length and the joints sit at the ends, where they can be opened, cleaned and inspected without disturbing the run.
Which bore for a milk transfer line?
The 19 or 25 mm code, both at 10 bar with 100 mm and 150 mm arcs. A transfer pump does not need more pressure, and the smaller outside diameter of 30 or 36 mm turns inside a pump skid that the larger sizes will not.
Which bore for a 1-1/2 inch dock line?
The 38 mm code at 10 bar, 1.50 kg/m and a 220 mm arc. On a dock the line is dragged, so the cover takes the wear and the long coil length means the couplings stay at the tanker end rather than on the floor.
What is the minimum order and the maximum length?
100 m per size as a rule, cut to length, with a maximum single length of 61 metres on every code, which is 200 ft in the length column. Production runs about 20 days from confirmation, and OEM marking and packing are available for distributor stock.
What does it cost per metre?
Price follows the bore: 0.67 kg/m at 3/4 inch, 0.84 at 1 inch, 1.20 at 1-1/4 inch and 1.50 kg/m at 1-1/2 inch. Send the medium, the bore, the length and the destination, and a firm figure comes back the same working day.
