PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

Mining Equipment Hydraulic Hose — One Rating Across Four Bores

Mining equipment is maintained in a way that punishes hose. A line is replaced in a pit at shift change, by whichever fitter is free, from whatever is on the shelf. A range where every bore carries the same pressure rating removes one decision from that moment.

Our R13 range covers 19 to 38 mm inside diameter, and all four codes are rated 35.0 MPa (350 bar) with 140.0 MPa minimum burst. Bore changes the flow and the bend radius, not the pressure class.

What the table does show is the cost of that bore: 1.36 kg/m at 3/4 inch rising to 5.49 kg/m at 1-1/2 inch, and a bend radius from 240 mm to 500 mm. On a haul truck or a continuous miner, that arc is usually what limits the size.

WHY THIS HOSE

Why Constant Pressure Suits a Mine

Four bores, one rating. That is a stores decision before it is an engineering one, and in a pit it matters.

01

350 bar at All Four

19 mm and 38 mm are both 35.0 MPa with 140.0 MPa burst. A fitter does not have to match a pressure class to a bore under time pressure.

02

Bore Sets Flow and Arc

The decision moves to flow and routing, which are the two things the machine actually dictates: 240 mm at 3/4 inch against 500 mm at 1-1/2 inch.

03

Mass Grows Fourfold

1.36 kg/m at the smallest code to 5.49 kg/m at the largest. A 1-1/2 inch run needs support, and the weight is in the table rather than guessed.

04

Cover Takes the Rock

On a mine the cover is hit by material, not just rubbed. Outside diameter from 31.0 to 58.8 mm is what a guard or a sleeve has to enclose.

05

Dust Is the Real Medium

Hydraulic oil is clean inside the hose. The threat is outside: dust drawn past a damaged cover and into the wire.

06

4:1 Even at 350 bar

140.0 MPa burst on 35.0 MPa working. Constant pressure does not mean a thinner margin, and the ratio is published per row.

CONSTRUCTION

Four Spirals Under a Mine Cover

Inner Tube

Oil-resistant synthetic rubber, bored 18.6 mm to 39.3 mm. The tube sees clean hydraulic oil; on this equipment the outside is the hostile side.

Reinforcement

Four spiral-wound steel wire layers, measuring 28.2 to 55.5 mm. The spiral body carries 35.0 MPa at every bore, which is what makes the range constant pressure.

Cover

An abrasion-resistant cover taking outside diameter to 31.0 to 58.8 mm. It is the first line of defence against rock strike and against dust reaching the wire.

APPLICATIONS

Where It Runs on Mining Equipment

Haul Truck Hoist

1-1/4 inch at 350 bar on a 420 mm arc, where the body weight is carried by two rams.

Loader Lift and Tilt

1 inch at 35.0 MPa on a 300 mm arc, the most frequently replaced line on a loading tool.

Drill Rig Feed

3/4 inch at 350 bar on a 240 mm arc, routed along a feed beam that flexes.

Continuous Miner Gathering Head

1-1/2 inch at 5.49 kg/m on a 500 mm arc, where the run is long and heavily supported.

Conveyor Take-Up

Tensioning cylinders at 350 bar, usually on the 1 inch code for its 300 mm arc.

Dust Suppression and Water

Auxiliary low-pressure circuits fed from the same platform, on a separate lower-rated body.

FAQ

Mining Equipment Hose — Ten Questions

Does the pressure rating change with bore on this range?

No. All four codes are 35.0 MPa (350 bar) with 140.0 MPa minimum burst, from the 19 mm bore to the 38 mm bore. Bore changes the flow, the bend radius and the weight, but not the pressure class.

What is the difference between the 1 inch and 1-1/2 inch codes?

Flow, arc and mass, not pressure. The 1 inch code runs a 300 mm arc at 2.12 kg/m, while the 1-1/2 inch code needs 500 mm and weighs 5.49 kg/m. Both are rated 35.0 MPa with the same 140.0 MPa burst.

Can a lighter braided hose replace R13 here?

Not at 350 bar with a shock duty. The R13 body is four spiral layers at 140.0 MPa burst, and a two-braid body of the same bore sits a pressure class lower. On a loader lift line that is the difference between a service interval and a failure.

How tight can the 3/4 inch line be routed?

The 19 mm code takes a 240 mm minimum bend radius on a 31.0 to 33.2 mm outside diameter. At 1 inch it is 300 mm, at 1-1/4 inch 420 mm and at 1-1/2 inch 500 mm, so upsizing costs routing space on a machine that is already crowded.

Why is 1-1/2 inch so much heavier?

Because the wall and the bore both grow. The 38 mm code runs 5.49 kg/m against 1.36 kg/m at 19 mm, and the outside diameter goes from 31.0 mm to 58.8 mm. Above 1-1/4 inch the run needs supports rather than clamps.

Why does dust matter more than the oil on a mine?

Because the oil inside is filtered and the dust outside is not. Once the cover is cut, dust and washdown water reach the wire and the burst margin falls away while the working pressure still looks correct on paper, so the 140.0 MPa figure no longer applies.

Which code for a haul truck hoist circuit?

The 1-1/4 inch code at 350 bar on a 420 mm arc, at 3.75 kg/m. Hoist rams move a lot of oil slowly, so the bore is sized for flow and the constant pressure rating means the class does not have to be checked separately.

Which code for a drill rig feed line?

The 3/4 inch code at 35.0 MPa and a 240 mm arc, at 1.36 kg/m. A feed beam flexes and the routing is tight, so the smallest bore is chosen for the arc rather than for the flow.

What is the minimum order and lead time?

100 m per size, cut to length, across 18.6 mm to 39.3 mm inside diameter. Production runs about 20 days from confirmation, and assemblies ship crimped and pressure-tested with metric, BSP, JIC or ORFS ends.

What does it cost per metre?

Price follows the bore: 1.36 kg/m at 3/4 inch, 2.12 at 1 inch, 3.75 at 1-1/4 inch and 5.49 kg/m at 1-1/2 inch. Samples are cut free so a route can be checked against the 240 to 500 mm arc, and a firm figure follows bore, length, ends and destination.
