PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
Chemical Suction Hose — UHMWPE Inside, EPDM Outside
This is a suction and discharge hose for chemical transfer, published from 19 mm to 152 mm inside diameter in nine codes at 10 bar working and 30 bar minimum burst, with a UHMWPE liner bonded to an EPDM body and an EPDM cover.
The two compounds are doing two different jobs. The ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene liner is the barrier the medium actually touches, and EPDM carries the cover, the weather and the splash. Between them sits a reinforcement of high-strength polyester cord and spiral steel wire, which is what lets the bore hold its shape when a tanker pump pulls a vacuum on it.
The published pressure is modest and consistent: 10 bar on every code with 30 bar burst behind it, from the 19 mm bore at 30 mm outside diameter to the 152 mm bore at 171 mm. Bend radius runs 100 mm to 750 mm and mass from 0.67 to 8.17 kg per metre; the coil is 61 m to 4 inch and 30.5 m on the 6 inch code.

WHY THIS HOSE
Six Reasons the Liner Is the Specification
On a chemical hose the medium meets one layer and the yard meets another. These six points are what the build separates.
Two Compounds, Two Duties
A UHMWPE liner handles the medium and an EPDM cover handles sunlight, ozone and splash, so the outside of the hose is not asked to be chemically resistant and the inside is not asked to be weatherproof.
Slick Bore
Polyethylene has a low-friction surface, which is why a 152 mm bore at 8.17 kg/m can be drained and cleaned between two different products without a mechanical scrape.
Wire for Vacuum
A spiral steel wire sits inside the cord layer to hold the bore open under suction; the table publishes 10 bar pressure, and the wire is there for the other half of the duty.
Flat 10 bar
All nine codes are 10 bar with 30 bar burst, a 3:1 margin, from the 19 mm bore at 0.67 kg/m to the 152 mm bore at 8.17 kg/m.
Bore Stops at 6 Inch
The range ends at 152 mm, where the outside diameter is 171 mm and the coil halves from 61 m to 30.5 m — the practical limit for a hose that is handled rather than piped.
Published Arc
Bend radius is given per code from 100 mm at 19 mm bore to 750 mm at 6 inch, so a suction run from a tanker connection is laid out from the table.
CONSTRUCTION
Polyethylene, Cord and Wire, EPDM
Inner Tube
UHMWPE bonded to EPDM, the medium-facing layer, in bores from 19 mm to 152 mm. The polyethylene is the barrier the product touches; the EPDM behind it gives the bond something to hold.
Reinforcement
High-strength polyester cord with a spiral steel wire, which carries the 10 bar pressure and keeps the bore open when the line is under suction on a tanker pump.
Cover
EPDM rubber, outside diameter 30 mm at the 19 mm code through 171 mm at 6 inch, published for weather and splash rather than for the medium inside.

FAQ
Chemical Suction Hose — Ten Questions
Chemical suction hose vs a rubber water suction hose — what changes?
The liner. A water suction hose has a plain rubber tube, while this one has a UHMWPE liner bonded to EPDM, at 10 bar over nine codes from 19 mm to 152 mm, with a spiral wire for the suction duty.
Can it replace a PTFE-lined hose?
Where the medium is inside the polyethylene range and the temperature is inside the published window, yes, and at 10 bar with 30 bar burst the pressure side is rarely the limit. PTFE is the answer where the medium attacks polyethylene, and the liner is the first thing to check before a swap.
What is the rating on the 2 inch code?
10 bar working with 30 bar minimum burst on a 51 mm bore, a 64 mm outside diameter, a 300 mm bend radius and 1.93 kg per metre, on a 61 m coil.
What is the largest size, and how heavy is it?
A 152 mm bore with a 171 mm outside diameter, 8.17 kg per metre, a 750 mm minimum bend radius, and a 30.5 m coil rather than the 61 m used to 4 inch.
Will the polyethylene liner handle acids and caustics?
That is what it is chosen for: acids, alkalis and many solvents are the reason a polyethylene liner sits inside an EPDM body. Concentration and temperature decide the answer, so the medium and its temperature are the two lines to send before an order on the 51 mm code at 1.93 kg/m.
Can it be used on a tanker unloading pump?
Yes — that is the duty the spiral wire is for. On the 76 mm code at 3.08 kg/m the bore stays open while the pump pulls, and 10 bar covers the discharge stroke on the same line.
Why UHMWPE rather than a thicker rubber tube?
Because chemical resistance and wear resistance are surface properties, and polyethylene gives both without adding wall. Wall shows up in the outside diameter: 64 mm at the 51 mm bore, 120 mm at 4 inch, on a hose that still bends to a 300 mm radius.
Why does a chemical hose liner blister after a few months?
Usually permeation rather than a bad hose: a medium that passes slowly through the liner and collects at the bond line. The 10 bar rating is not the issue; the product list is. Check the medium against the polyethylene and the EPDM, and if it is outside the range the liner has to change, not the wall.
What is the minimum order?
One coil or cut lengths from a metre, across any of the nine codes from 19 mm to 152 mm bore. Lengths are packed by bore and marked with the code, the pressure class and the test date.
How is the hose priced?
Per metre by bore, with the top end set by mass and by the wire: 0.67 kg/m at 19 mm against 8.17 kg/m at 152 mm. Send bore, medium, concentration, temperature and destination for a firm figure.
