PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
EN 856 4SP Four-Spiral Hydraulic Hose — 450 bar at 6 mm, 165 bar at 51 mm
The YIBO 4SP is a four-spiral hydraulic hose built to EN 856 4SP: an oil-resistant synthetic rubber tube, four alternating layers of high-tensile steel wire, and an abrasion-resistant cover.
The range is 9 codes from 6 mm to 51 mm bore, 1/4 inch to 2 inch. Working pressure runs 45.0 MPa (450 bar) at the smallest code down to 16.5 MPa (165 bar) at 2 inch, with a 4.0x burst margin on every row. Mass runs 0.55 to 5.44 kg/m.
On the same 1/2 inch bore the four-spiral body is rated 41.5 MPa where a two-braid 2SN carries 27.5 MPa. That gap is the whole reason this range exists, and it is printed per row rather than claimed in a headline.

Application & Selection
SUITABLE FOR CONVEYING HYDRAULIC FLUIDS SUCH AS GLYCOL, HYDRAULIC OIL, LUBRICATING OIL, AND EMULSIONS, ETC. STEEL WIRE SPIRAL HYDRAULIC HOSE EN856 4SP is published in 9 codes spanning 6–51 mm bore.
Working and burst rating of this hose peak at 450 / 1,800 bar, a 4:1 margin. Weight band: 0.55–5.44 kg/m over the 9 rows. Metric / BSP / JIC / ORFS ends are crimped and pressure-tested in-house across the 6–51 mm bore. This hose starts at 100 m, across the 6–51 mm range.
WHY THIS HOSE
Six Reasons the Four-Spiral Range Holds Its Rating
Four spirals change what the same bore can carry. These six figures are the ones that come up in every RFQ.
450 bar at the 6 mm Code
The 1/4 inch code is rated 45.0 MPa (450 bar) with 180 MPa (1,800 bar) minimum burst. At 2 inch the same family is rated 16.5 MPa (165 bar), so the class is read from the row you are buying.
Four Spirals, Nine Bores
6 mm to 51 mm, 1/4 inch to 2 inch, wound on one line, so a mixed order leaves as a single lot under one test record.
Bend Radius to 660 mm
150 mm at the 1/4 inch code rising to 660 mm at 2 inch. That number, not the pressure, decides whether the hose routes at all in a compact machine.
Built for Impulse, Not Just Peak
A four-spiral body holds its rating through the pressure cycle as well as at the peak, which is why boom, press and mould circuits are specified by cycle count.
Two Temperature Windows
-40 to +100 ℃ on oil, and 0 to +70 ℃ on water-based media, stated as two windows rather than one averaged figure.
Cut, Crimped, Proof-Tested
Assemblies are crimped on CNC machines and proof-tested above rated working pressure, then marked with batch and test date.
CONSTRUCTION
Four Spirals Wound in Alternating Directions
Inner Tube
Oil-resistant synthetic rubber (NBR), bored to the table: 6.2 to 7.0 mm at the 6 mm code, 50.4 to 52.0 mm at the 51 mm code.
Reinforcement
Four layers of high-tensile steel wire wound in alternating directions. That is what holds 41.5 MPa at 1/2 inch, against the 27.5 MPa a two-braid 2SN carries on the same 12.5 mm bore.
Cover
Abrasion- and weather-resistant synthetic rubber, sized so the outside diameter runs 17.1 to 18.7 mm at the 6 mm code and 68.3 to 71.4 mm at 51 mm.
APPLICATIONS
Where the 4SP Is the Right Choice
Excavator Boom & Arm Rams
A 34 to 35 MPa relief setting is covered by the 3/4 inch code at 350 bar, with a 300 mm bend radius for boom routing.
Mining Shield & Advance Rams
Sustained pressure and hard impulse on shield legs, where the 1 inch code carries 280 bar and 2.07 kg/m tells the fitter what he is lifting.
Injection Moulding Machines
Clamp and injection circuits that cycle hard; the 1/2 inch code at 415 bar covers most clamp lines inside a 230 mm bend.
Hydraulic Presses
Press and return lines where the four-spiral body holds pressure through the dwell, not only at the peak.
Agricultural & Forestry Cranes
Boom, winch and grab circuits on trailer cranes, sized up to the 1-1/4 inch code at 210 bar.
Drilling & Piling Rigs
Rotary and feed circuits on rigs where a burst line stops the shift, so assemblies are proof-tested before dispatch.
HIGH-END INDUSTRY DIRECTIONS
Where Four-Spiral Demand Is Going
Machine builders keep moving the specification from the model name to the row on the table. These six shifts show up in our own RFQs.
① Pressure Above 400 bar high pressure hose
Trend: Compact machines push relief settings past 350 bar, a level two-braid hose cannot reach beyond the smallest bores.
Dohose: The four-spiral range reaches 45.0 MPa at the 6 mm code and still holds 16.5 MPa at 51 mm, per row.
② Impulse Count in Cycles impulse rated hose
Trend: Boom and press circuits are bought on cycle count now, not on working pressure alone.
Dohose: Alternating spiral directions keep impulse life even across the 9 codes instead of peaking at one size.
③ Tighter Envelopes compact hose
Trend: Machine frames shrink and the routing budget, not the pressure, becomes the limit.
Dohose: Minimum bend radius is published from 150 mm at 6 mm bore to 660 mm at 51 mm.
④ Water-Based Fluids water glycol hose
Trend: HFC fluids keep spreading from steel plants into general plant hydraulics.
Dohose: The 0 to +70 ℃ window for water-based media sits next to the -40 to +100 ℃ oil window.
⑤ Cleanliness at the Port clean hydraulic hose
Trend: Servo and proportional valves specify cleanliness at the port rather than at the tank.
Dohose: Bores are blown through and capped after cutting, before the assembly is crimped.
⑥ Traceability traceable hose
Trend: Warranty claims increasingly ask for the coil behind a failed line.
Dohose: Batch and test date are marked on the body and recorded against the order.
WHY DOHOSE
Seven Reasons Buyers Stay with Us
Numbers, Not Averages
Every figure for the Steel Wire Spiral Hydraulic Hose EN856 4SP comes from the per-code table: 6.2–50.4 mm, 450 bar working, 1800 bar burst.
One Line, Full Range
All 9 codes of the Steel Wire Spiral Hydraulic Hose EN856 4SP come off the same line, so a mixed order in 6.2–50.4 mm ships together.
Length on Demand
Cut-to-length supply for Steel Wire Spiral Hydraulic Hose EN856 4SP; each code carries its own mass, 0.55–5.44 kg/m across the published codes; every figure is per code, not an average, so lifting gear can be sized first.

FAQ
EN 856 4SP — Ten Pressure and Selection Questions
4SP vs 4SH for a 400 bar circuit?
At 400 bar only 4SH in this size class qualifies. At 3/4 inch (19 mm) 4SP is rated 35.0 MPa (350 bar) with 140 MPa burst, while 4SH on the same bore is rated 42.0 MPa (420 bar) with 168 MPa. The weight is effectively identical, 1.63 kg/m against 1.64 kg/m, so there is no handling reason to stay with 4SP above 350 bar.
Can a 4SP replace a failed 4SH on the same machine?
Only where the pressure allows. At 1 inch bore 4SP is rated 28.0 MPa (280 bar) and 4SH is rated 38.0 MPa (380 bar), so a 350 bar circuit that ran 4SH cannot be re-hosed with 4SP at that bore. At 3/4 inch the gap closes to 35.0 against 42.0 MPa, and a 300 bar line can go either way. Check the relief setting before the bore.
What is the working pressure of 3/4 inch 4SP hose?
At 3/4 inch (19 mm bore, held 18.6 to 19.8 mm) the 4SP-12-19 code is rated 35.0 MPa working, 5,076 psi, with 140 MPa (1,400 bar) minimum burst. Minimum bend radius on that row is 300 mm and the body weighs 1.63 kg/m.
What bore of 4SP for 150 l/min at 350 bar?
Those two numbers point in opposite directions. 150 l/min needs around 1 inch bore to stay near 5 m/s, but at 1 inch the 4SP code is rated 28.0 MPa (280 bar) with a 340 mm bend radius, so it cannot take 350 bar. At 3/4 inch, where 4SP does reach 350 bar, a 19 mm bore passes roughly 85 l/min at the same velocity. A 150 l/min line at 350 bar is a six-spiral job.
Which 4SP code for an excavator boom and arm?
3/4 inch is the usual answer: 4SP-12-19 at 35.0 MPa (350 bar) covers a 34 to 35 MPa relief setting without derating, and its 300 mm bend radius fits boom routing. The 1/2 inch code reaches 41.5 MPa (415 bar), but a 12.5 mm bore and 230 mm radius make it a pilot or return line, not a ram line.
Does 4SP run on water-glycol and HFC fluid?
Within a narrower window than oil. The published range is -40 to +100 ℃ on oil and 0 to +70 ℃ on water-based media. A 3/4 inch body at 35.0 MPa is rated on its own row, and on HFC the 70 ℃ ceiling is usually what decides the line rather than the pressure.
Why does a 4SP burst just behind the ferrule after re-crimping?
A four-spiral body does not forgive a second crimp. The outer spiral sits close under the cover, so a ferrule pressed twice either over-compresses the outer layer or leaves it unbonded, and the failure then appears just behind the nut. A hose that has already run should be replaced as an assembly. Check the 300 mm bend radius on the 3/4 inch code as well, because a tighter bend works that same zone on every cycle.
Why does a long 4SP run sag and pull at the couplings?
Because the body is heavy: 5.44 kg/m at the 2 inch code and 2.07 kg/m at 1 inch. A supported run holds its published bend radius, 660 mm at 2 inch; an unsupported one sags past it and the coupling carries the load. Clamp roughly every two metres on horizontal runs and the hose stays inside 660 mm.
Which Chinese manufacturer supplies EN 856 4SP hose in bulk?
YIBO, in Luohe, Henan, winds the whole range on one line: 9 codes from 6 mm to 51 mm bore, 1/4 inch to 2 inch, starting at 4SP-4-06. Bulk coils and finished assemblies leave from the same plant, with export loading through Qingdao or Shanghai.
How much does 4SP cost per metre at 3/4 inch in 100 m?
Price follows the body and the ends. The 3/4 inch code is 1.63 kg/m, so 100 m is a 163 kg coil, while the 2 inch code at 5.44 kg/m is 544 kg and needs its own freight line. Send bore, length, ends and destination and a firm price comes back the same working day.
