PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
EN 856 4SH Four-Spiral Hose — 420 bar at 3/4 inch, 250 bar at 2 inch
The YIBO 4SH is the heavy-wall four-spiral hose to EN 856 4SH: an oil-resistant synthetic rubber tube, four layers of high-tensile steel wire, and an abrasion-resistant cover. It exists for the bores where 4SP runs out of pressure.
The range is 6 codes from 19 mm to 51 mm bore, 3/4 inch to 2 inch. Working pressure is 42.0 MPa (420 bar) at 3/4 inch and 25.0 MPa (250 bar) at 2 inch, with a 4.0x burst margin on every row. Mass runs 1.64 to 5.06 kg/m.
At 1-1/4 inch the table carries two rows on the same bore: 4SH-20-31.5 at 32.5 MPa and 4SH-20-31.5T at 35.0 MPa. Same outside diameter, same 2.77 kg/m, 25 bar apart. Order the row your relief setting needs.

Application & Selection
SUITABLE FOR CONVEYING HYDRAULIC FLUIDS SUCH AS GLYCOL, HYDRAULIC OIL, LUBRICATING OIL, AND EMULSIONS, ETC. STEEL WIRE SPIRAL HYDRAULIC HOSE EN856 4SH is published in 6 codes spanning 19–51 mm bore.
This hose is rated 420 bar working and 1,680 bar minimum burst at the top of the 19–51 mm bore range, a 4:1 margin. Plan the supports around 1.64–5.06 kg/m per metre. Crimped and pressure-tested in-house, including the 4SH-12-19 build, with metric / BSP / JIC / ORFS ends. Allow about 20 days for this hose across the 19–51 mm band, OEM branding included.
WHY THIS HOSE
Six Reasons 4SH Sits Above 4SP
The whole point of this range is pressure at a bore where four spirals normally stop. These are the six figures behind it.
70 bar More at 3/4 inch
42.0 MPa (420 bar) on the 4SH-12-19 code against 35.0 MPa for 4SP on the same 19 mm bore, for 1.64 kg/m against 1.63 kg/m. The weight is not the difference; the wire is.
Two Pressure Rows at 1-1/4 inch
4SH-20-31.5 is rated 32.5 MPa and 4SH-20-31.5T is rated 35.0 MPa on the same 31.4 to 33.0 mm bore, both 2.77 kg/m with a 460 mm bend radius. Pick the row, not the size.
Only the Bores That Need It
The range starts at 19 mm, where pressure actually decides the hose. Six codes, 3/4 inch to 2 inch, so a high-pressure order does not drag along sizes nobody asked for.
Bend Radius to 700 mm
280 mm at 3/4 inch rising to 700 mm at 2 inch, published per row so the routing can be checked before the coil is cut.
Mass Stated Per Code
1.64 kg/m at 3/4 inch to 5.06 kg/m at 2 inch, so a 100 m coil is a known lift and a known freight line before it is booked.
Proof-Tested Assemblies
Every assembly is crimped on a CNC machine and proof-tested above rated working pressure, then marked with batch and test date.
CONSTRUCTION
Heavier Wire, Same Architecture
Inner Tube
Oil-resistant synthetic rubber (NBR), bored to the table: 18.6 to 19.8 mm at the 3/4 inch code, 50.4 to 52.0 mm at 2 inch.
Reinforcement
Four layers of high-tensile steel wire in alternating directions, with a heavier wire section than 4SP. On the same 19 mm bore that is the 42.0 MPa against 35.0 MPa.
Cover
Abrasion- and weather-resistant synthetic rubber, sized so the outside diameter runs 31.4 to 33.0 mm at 3/4 inch and 66.5 to 69.7 mm at 2 inch.
APPLICATIONS
Where 4SH Is Specified
High-Pressure Excavator Rams
Boom and bucket circuits set at 40 to 42 MPa, where the 3/4 inch code at 420 bar covers the relief without derating.
Mining Shield Supports
Shield legs and advance rams that hold pressure for long dwells; the 1 inch code carries 380 bar at 2.12 kg/m.
Hydraulic Presses Above 350 bar
Press and return lines that a four-spiral 4SP cannot hold at the same bore.
Piling & Rotary Rigs
Feed and clamp circuits where a burst line ends the shift, so assemblies arrive proof-tested.
Steel Mill & Foundry Hydraulics
Shear, pusher and ladle circuits running hot and pulsing hard through the cycle.
Heavy Trailer & Lowbed Rams
Tipping and ramp cylinders where 1-1/2 inch is the fitting size and 290 bar is the setting.
HIGH-END INDUSTRY DIRECTIONS
What Pushes Buyers to 4SH
Higher relief settings and longer dwells are the two shifts that move a specification off 4SP.
① Relief Settings Rise high pressure hose
Trend: Mobile equipment relief settings now sit at 40 to 42 MPa, above what four-spiral 4SP holds at the same bore.
Dohose: The 4SH range starts at 42.0 MPa on the 19 mm code and still holds 25.0 MPa at 51 mm.
② Dwell, Not Just Peak high pressure hose
Trend: Press and shield circuits hold pressure for minutes at a time, which is harder on the wire than a short peak.
Dohose: Heavier wire section on the same four-spiral architecture is what buys that dwell margin.
③ Two Grades, One Bore high pressure hose
Trend: Buyers increasingly ask for the pressure row rather than the size, because one bore can carry two ratings.
Dohose: At 1-1/4 inch both rows are published: 32.5 MPa and 35.0 MPa at 2.77 kg/m each.
④ Weight Budget lightweight hose
Trend: Fitters handle these lines by hand, so mass per metre is quoted alongside pressure.
Dohose: Mass runs 1.64 to 5.06 kg/m across the six codes, printed per row.
⑤ Cleanliness at the Port clean hydraulic hose
Trend: Servo control on press lines specifies cleanliness at the port, not at the reservoir.
Dohose: Bores are blown through and capped before the assembly is crimped.
⑥ Traceability traceable hose
Trend: High-pressure failures get investigated, and the investigation starts with the batch.
Dohose: Batch and test date are marked on the body and recorded against the order.

FAQ
EN 856 4SH — Ten High-Pressure Questions
4SH vs 4SP at 1 inch — which one?
4SH, unless 280 bar is enough. At 25 mm bore 4SH is rated 38.0 MPa (380 bar) with 152 MPa burst, while 4SP is rated 28.0 MPa (280 bar) with 112 MPa. The bend radius is 340 mm on both and the weight is 2.12 kg/m against 2.07 kg/m, so 4SH costs almost nothing in handling and buys 100 bar.
4SH vs a six-spiral for 420 bar at 1-1/4 inch?
No. At 32 mm bore the best row in this table is the 4SH-20-31.5T at 35.0 MPa (350 bar) with 140 MPa burst; the standard 4SH-20-31.5 row is 32.5 MPa. A 420 bar circuit at that bore moves up to a six-spiral body, which is where we quote next. At 3/4 inch, 42.0 MPa is available and 420 bar fits.
What is the working pressure of 3/4 inch 4SH?
The 4SH-12-19 code, 19 mm bore held between 18.6 and 19.8 mm, is rated 42.0 MPa working, 6,092 psi, with 168 MPa (1,680 bar) minimum burst. Minimum bend radius is 280 mm and the body weighs 1.64 kg/m, so 100 m is a 164 kg coil.
What is the rating of the 2 inch 4SH?
The 4SH-32-51 code, 51 mm bore, is rated 25.0 MPa (250 bar) with 100 MPa (1,000 bar) minimum burst, 3,626 psi working. Bend radius is 700 mm and mass is 5.06 kg/m, which is why a 2 inch run needs support rather than a longer loop.
Which 4SH for a 400 bar press circuit?
Only the 3/4 inch code reaches it: 42.0 MPa at 19 mm bore. At 1 inch the rating falls to 38.0 MPa (380 bar), so a 400 bar setting rules that bore out even though the flow would prefer it. That single row decides the whole hose schedule on a 400 bar press.
Can 4SH take water-based fluid at 70 ℃?
The published windows are -40 to +100 ℃ on oil and 0 to +70 ℃ on water-based media. On HFC the 70 ℃ ceiling arrives before the pressure limit does, so a line running at 42.0 MPa on oil is still temperature-bound on water-based fluid.
Why do two 1-1/4 inch rows exist, and which do I have?
Because one bore can carry two ratings: 4SH-20-31.5 at 32.5 MPa and 4SH-20-31.5T at 35.0 MPa, both on a 31.4 to 33.0 mm bore at 2.77 kg/m with a 460 mm bend radius. The marking on the body tells you which one is in the rack, and a 340 bar line fitted with the 32.5 MPa row is a burst waiting on a relief setting.
Why does the cover blister on a hot press line?
Heat reaches the cover from outside as well as through the tube, and a cover held above its limit blisters before the wire fails. The working window tops out at +100 ℃ on oil. Where a line runs near that, add guarding or move the run away from the manifold rather than ordering a heavier hose.
Which Chinese manufacturer supplies EN 856 4SH hose in bulk?
YIBO, in Luohe, Henan, winds the 4SH range on the same line as the 4SP: 6 codes from 19 mm to 51 mm bore, 3/4 inch to 2 inch, starting at 4SH-12-19. Coils and crimped assemblies ship from one plant, loading through Qingdao or Shanghai.
How much does 4SH cost per metre at 2 inch in 100 m?
The 2 inch code is 5.06 kg/m, so 100 m is a 506 kg coil and takes a different freight line from the 3/4 inch code at 1.64 kg/m. Send bore, length, ends and destination, and the price comes back the same working day.
