Closing the Physical Weak Point Hoses Are Most Often "Worn Through"

A UHP hose assembly line built around "resistance to external mechanical damage," for mining, quarry, steel, construction drag chains and ground-following follow lines. It faces a data-backed fact: a sizeable share of field hose failures are not from insufficient pressure but from the cover being worn through, cut or crushed — the protection shell fails before the pressure structure reaches its life.

The Most Overlooked Weak Point: the Cover

The outermost cover is the only part that meets the outside world: reciprocating friction in drag chains, sharp rock and metal edges on the worksite, equipment crush and scraping all eat the cover first. Once the cover is breached, the inner steel/fibre reinforcement is exposed and then rusts, is cut and concentrates stress; the hose often goes from "usable" to "suddenly failed" in just one wear-through. More insidious is slow wear — only a layer of skin peels off, yet the reinforcement is quietly weakened, becoming the fracture source at the next impulse or shock.

Four Layers of Damage-Resistance Technology

① High-abrasion cover. A high-abrasion elastomer cover (e.g., PU-modified or special rubber) with markedly lower wear volume than general cover, multiplying life in drag-chain and ground-friction duty.

② Cut-resistant outer armour. Aramid/high-tenacity polyester braided armour at or next to the outer layer resists blade cuts and punctures, preventing a metal edge from slicing straight to the reinforcement.

③ Crush-rebound structure. The hose rebounds after being crushed or stepped on, keeping the bore open and flow intact, avoiding local stress concentration and reinforcement kinking after collapse.

④ Damage doesn't mean instant loss of pressure. Cover and internal pressure layer are structurally decoupled: a breached cover still temporarily holds pressure, giving the field a window to swap the hose rather than bursting instantly.

Typical Applications

Mining and quarry equipment, construction drag-chain follow lines, steelworks and foundry ground lines, mobile equipment prone to crushing and dragging, harsh duty with metal edges or rock impact.
