A "hydrolysis-resistant" UHP hose assembly for metallurgical fire-resistant hydraulics, underground coal mines and humid/wet duty. It closes a hidden, high-frequency weak point: for fire safety, metallurgy and coal widely use water-based fire-resistant fluids (water-glycol, water-in-oil), while conventional rubber inner tubes hydrolyze in these media — slowly degraded from the inside.
Water-Based Fluids: Chosen for Fire Safety, Hiding a Hose Risk
Fire-resistant hydraulics replace mineral oil with water-based media — water-glycol (HFC), water-in-oil (HFA). The trouble is the "water": conventional NBR-type inner tubes hydrolyze in water-based media and sustained heat, breaking molecular chains, losing strength, turning tacky and swollen, degrading adhesion to the reinforcement and delaminating, finally leaking. High-humidity, wetted and seawater-intrusion environments likewise accelerate this. Such failure starts inside and often shows no outward sign; by the time leakage appears the inner tube is already degraded. Hose life in continuous casting, hot rolling and underground coal often falls short right here.
Four Layers of Hydrolysis-Resistance Technology
① Hydrolysis-resistant inner-tube formulation. Inner tube of hydrolysis-resistant elastomer systems (specific NBR, EPDM, TPU class, by medium), resisting hydrolytic degradation in water-based media and heat, keeping strength and rebound.
② Moisture barrier layer. A barrier layer in the structure blocks moisture from intruding into the reinforcement and interfaces, slowing outside-in hydrolysis and corrosion.
③ Water-based-media-stable liner. Liner optimized for water-based fire-resistant fluids, resisting swelling and extraction, holding volume stability and adhesion long-term in water-glycol / water-in-oil.
④ Heat-plus-humidity co-resistance. Tolerant of metallurgical heat superposed with water media, maintaining pressure and seal under combined "heat + water" rather than only passing in room-temperature water.
Typical Applications
Metallurgical continuous casting / hot rolling fire-resistant hydraulics, underground coal water-based-fluid systems, foundry and forging fire-resistant hydraulics, humid and wetted duty, marine and nearshore wetted equipment.
